Unfallen Heroes

We are unarmed yet they keep shooting

Our lives are cut short because we make simple demands.

United by the deaths of our fellow youths for a common goal

We have become whole with our newly found unity and are not going to watch as imposed leaders pillage our future like they did the past generations.

Our nonviolent protests has been met with lead tips

We have met untimely ends at the hands of soldiers that where called to serve us.

We are however determined to have a better Nigeria

The struggle must continue despite all they throw at us.

Gone are the days when a Nigerian Senator get paid more than seventy thousand dollars per month for doing almost nothing while the mere man earns less than a hundred dollars monthly.

The struggle must continue

Gone are the days when we beg imposed officials under the guise of election to carry out their duties adequately.

The struggle must continue

Gone are the days when a Master’s degree holder has no job.

The struggle must continue

Gone are the days when only the ultra- wealthy can afford standard healthcare.

The struggle must continue

Gone are the days when a policeman can gun you down for no just cause with impunity.

The struggle must continue

Gone are the days when our votes do not really count.

The struggle must continue

Not just for us,for our parents, our unborn children and the unfallen heroes of this movement.

All we demand is for better governance and our lives not be cut short

The struggle…tears rolling down my cheeks must continue.
